Ethernet
is the most common Local Area Network ( LAN )
technology used to connect computers or devices together.
NIC or the Network Interface Card is a
card that is installed inside your computer (many newer computers
have this built-in, as do many new laptops). The NIC is what
allows a computer to communicate with other computers over
a network.
An Ethernet Card is a type of NIC.
Cat5 is UTP (Unshielded
Twisted Pair) cable
made up of 4 pairs of copper wire. Each pair is color
coded and the pairs are twisted together to reduce interference.

RJ45 is
a telecommunications type connector that looks similar to a
phone plug. It has a full eight pins (to accommodate the
8 wires of the UTP cable).
100BaseT is the 100 megabit Ethernet standard
using Category 5 (cat5) UTP cable with the RJ45 connector.
